Secta : amplitude sculptor 1.1

Secta is an audio effect that dynamically splits incoming audio into two sections and processes each with an exclusive set of effects, sculpting silence, shaping accents, and amplifying hidden details. This allows for guiding each layer into a parallel sonic dimension, making it an unforeseen dream for sound designers.

Secta is part of the totem/ series by K-Devices: unconventional audio effects presented in a compact format that are easy to use and offered at a convenient price point.

Building on the concept of a multidimensional gate, Secta processes audio uniquely, adding an ephemeral and dramatic touch to acoustic instruments, disintegrating loops warmly, injecting abrupt drops, re-texturizing lines, or guiding beats down a dark path of fragmentation.

Hard to categorize with classic effect labels, Secta processes both sides of a gated source independently, serving as a counterpoint amplitude sculptor. It cuts to regenerate, acting as a colorizer without mix parameters. Simply load Secta onto your track and let it inspire you with its nuanced timbral shades.

Secta functions as a gate, dynamic multi-distortion tool, double-headed tectonic monster, trembling detuned textures generator, and more. Its potential uses are yet to be fully explored!

HOW IT WORKS

1. At first, Secta splits the incoming signal like a gate effect: users set an amplitude threshold using the Verge and Boost parameters. The signal exceeding this threshold generates an envelope which controls the Above and Below sections. The envelope determines the frequency of a lowpass filter in the Above section (similar to a lowpass gate) and inversely controls the amplitude in the Below section. This envelope can be shaped using global parameters like Smooth, Retain, and S/C.
2. Above and Below sections process sounds differently: Above offers more rumble while Below focuses on texture and madness. Switching between the sections yields interesting sculpting results, but combining and balancing them creates richer textures.
